New England equaled their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season

Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

Victory extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark

The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' initial series

But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7

"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He wants to be great."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the win
