Cars in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were contacted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

An important official commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
